This discussion post has 8 parts; take care to clear answer each of them.
1. Name something "out of the norm" that you do. This can be anything, such as participation in an activity, wearing or using something, something you eat, gestures you make, and so on, but please do not identify anything illegal!
2. Describe what makes this thing you do deviant from social norms.
3. Identify who exactly might think it is deviant (this could be you, your friends, classmates at school, fellow employees at your workplace, your family members, and even the
oader culture).
4. Using terminology from Chapter 7, identify the types of sanctions you experience from this deviance.
5. Does labeling theory apply here? Explain why or why not.
6. Is this a product of differential association? Explain why or why not.
7. Does this out of the norm thing that you do make you "bad"?
8. What would it take for this to not be considered deviant (by those who cu
ently DO consider it deviant)?
