Case Analysis – Expand the Menu?
Task 1
This case study focusses on family-run business named Yolk-ay that entails chain of fast food restaurants serving egg-based dishes and the business targets south-east Asian population as its key customer segment. The chain is cu
ently based in various locations across United Arab Emirates (“UAE”). The issue of focus in this case concerns the company’s dilemma on what has to be done for business development and future growth in the face of their turnover remaining flat, increasing competition, and lack of geographical expansion options. The company considers offering home deliveries as a form of reaching out to wider customer base, but the same is seen with scepticism by one of the founders, and also by the head chief given the nature of the food. The other option is expanding and diversifying the menu to attract more customers. Assuming the company now plans to establish three new

ent product mix of the company shall be not be of relevance on account of the following reasons: [1] the taste palate is very different between the cu
ent target segment of south-east Asians as compared to Americans, and [2] a solely egg based dishes of the nature offered by Yolk-ay shall not work in an American environment, and suitable expansion of the menu will be required.
Task 2
As specified, Yolk-ay faces key dilemma in terms of issues its cu
ent menu places on the business growth: product mix offered by the company while being simplistic and effective, offered the company the initial success to target specific...
