The mindset pertains to the belief system and the distrust about the character. The lack of self is also brought out through the scene. There is an element of distrust in the language that Akiko has with the contradictory belief system of the husband Rick. Rick has a fancy for the multiple languages and on the verge of learning the fifth one.
