  • To be able to plot climate graphs using Excel.

  • To examine and understand the factors which control the climate of B.C.



Part 1. Data analysis:



1.

Plot the mean monthly temperature (°C) and precipitation (mm) data for the stations:Prince Rupert, Vancouver, Fort Nelson, and Penticton (Use the attached file 'LAB1-Geog 101.xlsx" for the climate data and Excel under this activity).


2.Calculate the mean annual temperature and precipitation for each station. Which station has the highest recorded mean annual temperature? Which station has the lowest mean annual temperature? Why?

  1. -Create a map (using Google my maps)


  2. -Rename the title of the map to your name followed by your student id


  3. -Rename the default layer to (BC climate)


  4. -First layer:add 3 stations listed above (use marker) andrename them (places) properly.


  5. -Add at least one picture (Climate chart) to each of those places


  6. -In the description, part of each location, add latitude and longitude coordinates, Mean temperature, annual precipitation, and Range of the temperature of the locations.


  7. -Share link; To share the map, click on thesharebutton, change the share setting to (everyone with the link)


  8. -In the new layer, draw a polygon around the city you currently live in and rename it (my city), share the link.


  9. -Copy the share links and the provided charts into a word document and submit it onto the provided Dropbox below.
