Value of Reflective Practices for Managers and Leaders
Reflective practice is termed as the practice which considers the experiences and the work ca
ied out by a person in the past. Humans have a very natural tendency to think about what has happened with them in the past that is much of a casual thinking but what makes a reflective thinking different is the reflective thinking helps a person in analyzing how he ca
ied out his past activities, what the essentials he lacked there which lead that event to be an unsuccessful one. He clearly analyzes those past activity get to know where he is lacking and changes his approach towards it the next time (Fa
ell et al., 2017).
Using objective to achieve results
The reflective practice is considered sheer effective from the managers and leaders point of view. The reflective practice outgrows the quality in a leader which tend him to use objectives to achieve results. For achieving an expected result a clear and sheer objective is required without persisting to the objectives an exact result could never be obtained. The reflective practice make the leaders aware of the ongoing situations where they should clearly use the objectives to achieve the expected result for the organization.
Make them ready to tackle tough situations
The reflective practices prepare the managers and the leaders to tackle the tough situation with an ease. As the managers and leaders e termed as the in charge of the company who are responsible for formulating strategies, tackling the tough situations and providing the guidelines to their subordinates. The reflective practice make them fight the tough situation by adopting the best analyzed strategies among the all. It help them in gaining the insight that would be considered helpful for them in tackling all the tough situations with an ease (Johnston et al., 2017).
Creating attentiveness
The managers and leaders are those pillars of an organization who have to be really attentive regarding all the past, present and the future capabilities of the business. The reflective practice help them to be attentive towards what is ongoing in the business world and what recent changes may occur in the nea
y future. It provides them a probable insight of the situations that may arise in the upcoming future and would surely affect the business as well. The reflective practice make them aware of the all the possible outcomes faced by the company in the nea
y future.
Not committing the same mistake
Committing the same mistakes constantly is something which reflects a person has not learnt anything from his past experiences. This degrades the value of the human as well as the work ca
ied by him. Repeating the mistakes degrades the work quality and increases the workload and make the schedule hectic. The reflective practice helps the managers and the leaders to analyze their mistakes and ensure them towards not repeating those mistakes again in their work. As the managers and leaders are followed by their subordinates and committing same mistakes would nearly set a wrong example for its subordinates (Dixon, Lee. and Ghaye, 2016)
Make them choose the best decision
As for every problems that occurs in the business world has several different approaches and solutions to tackle them but the foremost duty of the leaders and the managers is to choose the best decision among the all. The reflective practice helps them to analyze the whole situation and compare among all possible alternatives available and chose the best among the rest. The reflective practice help the managers and leaders in gaining an insight that would be used by them effectively during the decision making (Sherwood et al., 2020).
