EYLF Principles and Practices
1. Connecting children with natural environment for enhancing their mental and physical growth
This picture is selected for ca
ying out this task as it can be observed that an educator is catering the needs of the children in terms of connecting them with nature.
It can be stated that when a child unexpectedly changes from a baby to a preeschooler then there are a lot of changes that they experience. It is not only them who experience the change but the lives of the parents are also altered (Cohrssen, 2021). In this picture it is clearly observed that the children are having great time in the lap of nature in terms of getting into the activities and games of the preschool. Furthermore, in the picture the audience can also see that the educator is also having great time as well as their care, dedication and concern for the children can be depicted. It can be suggested that adaption of preschool should consist of not only children but also their parents and it can be assured that it can be trouble-free, simple and quite pleasant as well.
Throwing light on the above-mentioned discussion it can be argued that this educator is thoroughly following the EYLF learning outcomes “Play-based learning and Intentionality” for the preschool children and it is observed that the play-based approaches tend to allow for various types of play and recognise the intentional roles that both educators and children may take in the learning of the children. When children play as observed in this picture that they are interacting with the educator as well and thus creating friendships and relationships. Play always provide both a context and a process such as a way of teaching and learning where children can ask a lot of questions, engaging in critical thinking and solving problems. This kind of play based learning tends to provide opportunities for the children in terms of learning as they discover, imagine and improvise (Cohrssen, 2023). Another learning outcome of EYLF that is relevant with this particular picture is “Learning environments”. Learning environment in general tends to consist of the following temporal, physical, intellectual and social elements. Welcoming and safe inclusive indoor and outdoor environment like it is observed in the picture tends to affirm the identities and enrich the lives of the families and children. Outdoor learning spaces are one of the most significant features of the Australian learning environments. It offers a huge amount of possibilities for the learning experiences and physical activity that are not available indoors. These children as seen in the picture will gradually appreciate the natural world and interdependence between animals, people, lands, plant as well as water providing opportunities for children so that they can engage with every concept regarding sustainability via the environmental education.
There are some pedagogical approaches that can be seen in this early childhood educator using the learning environment that is...
