Background
The International Chinese Film Festival is an annual event to cele
ate Asian films in
Australia. The whole festival runs for a whole month in major capital cities in Australia and
ends with the formal Awards Ceremony to honor those who contributed significant effort to
the industry.
2018 is the 9th Anniversary of the event. The client is now looking for a theme that can be
used throughout the night. The theme would need to be grand and elegant.

Elements required:
1. Props on stage in Grand Ballroom, it should be relevant to either the client or film
industry
2. Theming for exhibition and Grand Ballroom, it should be the same to maintain
consistency
3. Theme color for the event

Assessment Brief:
Students are required to work in groups to develop an event concept and design report and
separate client pitch presentation from the scenario and
ief provided by the lecturer.
Word limit for final report: 1200
Presentation limit: 10 minutes (max 10 slides)
It is possible that the scenario and
ief will be sourced from an external client and the
student pitch presentations made to said external client.
The client pitch presentation will be delivered in class in week 10, or via the LMS, with
feedback provided by the lecturer or external client. That feedback should then be
incorporated into the final written report, due in week 11.
The event concept and design report should address the following functional event design
areas:
• Concept
• Theme
• Relevant design elements, such as, but not limited to:
o Décor
o Set dressing
o Audio and visual effects
o Special effects
o Entertainment
o Food and beverage
o Other relevant design elements
It is expected that students will endeavour to support their design vision with appropriate
