Discuss the core business of an airport and the airport business model. The purpose of this discussion is to inform the readers the following:Airport exists to provide services to airlines who use aircraft to carry passengers and cargo. Airport has no involvement in determining what aircraft airline wants to use to fly into or out of it,it is rather there to accommodate/or not accommodate airline’s request.

Aviation helps to foster the economic growth by facilitating connections between people and enterprises all over the world and by providing chances for individuals to find work. The global revenue passenger kilometres (RPK), an industry indicator that indicates the demand for air travel, increased at an average rate of almost 6 percent per year from 1996 to 2018, exceeding the growth of the global GDP, which increased at an average rate of approximately 3 percent. 1 The substantial co
elation between year-on-year growth in worldwide GDP and global RPK growth is another indicator that demonstrates the relationship between economic growth and aviation. This co
elation demonstrates the connection between economic growth and aviation. An airport's ability to withstand external shocks can be gauged by its ability to generate revenue that isn't dependent on passengers. There are normally two sources of airport earnings. Almost all aspects of air traffic management (Diogo Filipe Brás, 2018), including navigation and surveillance, aircraft fuel supply, landing–housing–parking costs, ground safety services, and aircraft ground handling, are reliant on passengers. Passenger-dependent revenue streams like retail, food and beverage and duty-free sales at airport terminals are completely dependent on air travel and non-aeronautical revenue streams like rent from commercial premises and service offers fall into this category. Passenger-dependent revenue streams, including retail, food and beverage, and duty-free sales are still important to many airports' non-aeronautical revenue streams. Fig.1. Shows the Percentage of aeronautical and Non-Aeronautical Revenues.This shows the overall share in the revenues where 43% is from Non-Aeronautical income.This shows that there is more scope to Airport revenues.
